Welcome

PROGRAMS & SERVICES

With a mission to improve the quality of life for people that suffer from Sickle Cell Disease, we have developed programs that address situations that may arise from time to time in daily life.

Programs

Employment Program: Find employers that are willing to hire Sickle Cell workers.

Counseling: Educate parents and carriers about Sickle Cell Trait.

Holiday Celebration: A gathering of Sickle Cell patients and their families for a time to enjoy one another.

Parent's Auxiliary: A place where parents of Sickle Cell children come to

Information & Referral: A list of other agencies and their resources.

Services

Transportation:

Persons affected by Sickle Cell Disease sometimes will experience a mild or severe episode or crisis with no means of transportation to a medical facility for treatment. In these situations clients call in and receive assistance in the form of a taxi voucher, bus pass, or another conveyance to any area hospital, clinic, or doctor's office.

Prescriptions:

Often a prescription is written by a physician and it is for a medication that is not covered by state, federal, or personal insurance. There are also cases where the patient has no insurance coverage to pay for the prescription. Our aim is to help with payment of prescription costs for patients with no other means of assistance.

Utilities:

Extreme weather conditions (i.e. winter/summer) can affect a person with Sickle Cell Disease causing them to experience painful episodes or crises. We help to provide utility assistance to offset the effects of those extreme temperature changes. This assistance also includes water which is critical to the well-being of a person with Sickle Cell Disease for hydration and curbing their chance of infection.
